Columbia School Board Approves Selection of Custom Energy as Energy Partner

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (June 11, 2007) - The Columbia School Board recently demonstrated their commitment to the long-term health and improvement of district facilities by selecting Custom Energy as their energy services partner and setting in motion the implementation of the results from the recently developed facility condition assessment report conducted in partnership by Custom Energy and DLR Group.  

“We’re pleased that we can assist the Columbia School District in their forward thinking initiatives,” stated Dale Hahs, president of Custom Energy. “The board and administration should be applauded for being the best possible stewards of taxpayer dollars and their desire to improve the quality of the learning environment.”  

Custom Energy will act as an independent advisor to the district; using their many years of expertise in working with school districts who want to be more energy efficient, to identify the best solutions available to meet each buildings’ specific needs and align those with the district’s overall objectives. Custom Energy will further evaluate the facilities and suggest a variety of appropriate energy saving solutions to be implemented at each school, bid those solutions, and allow the district to select those that are deemed to be the best fit. Once specific upgrades are selected by the district and approved by the Board of Education, Custom Energy will manage the implementation, commission the installed systems, train district personnel, and provide verification that targeted energy savings are being achieved.  

Some of the likely candidates to be included in the energy saving improvements will be new windows, lighting systems, and heating and cooling systems, although many more upgrades will undoubtedly make the list as solutions further developed.
