Wichita State University Recognized for Major Energy Saving Initiative

The upgrades addressed older inefficient equipment that was in need of replacement, as well as a wide variety of enhancements to the learning environment. Not only will students and staff benefit from the improved facilities, but the impacts on the environment are also significant. According to EPA data, the university will reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions (carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and nitric oxides) by 10,000 tons annually, which is the equivalent of planting over 2,600 acres of trees, or removing nearly 2,000 cars from the road.
Representatives at the event from Wichita State University included Roger D. Lowe, Vice President for Administration and Finance; Woodrow K. DePontier, Director of Gaddis Physical Plant; John D. Gist, Direct of Facilities Planning; Klent Harkness, Director, Computer Services and Environmental Control; Randy Pulec, Director of Facility Maintenance; and members of the Physical Plant staff that played a key role in the project's success.
